If you want to save money, go and buy a Docsis 3.0 cable modem with 8 channel bonding and a cheap TP-Link router that just serves your immediate needs. With 8-channel bonding, the cable modem will serve you for any speed plan you're likely to get in the next 5 to 10 years.
